It is a large green open space of historic interest which has always been at the heart of the local community. The Friends of Debdale Park are local people who not only volunteer to help in the upkeep of the park but work to develop its potential as a resource for the whole community.
	www.gortonallotments.org.uk Gorton Horticultural Society manages the large allotment site on the North bank of Gorton Lower Reservoir. The Society is also very active in the local community, running a programme of events on and around the allotment site. GHS, in partnership with Gorton Heritage Trail is developing an exciting new Debdale Nature Centre to explore the area's local biodiversity.
