“ A green lung in a densely urban area.” Sir Gerald Kaufman MP 1930 - 2017

Debdale Park is a much loved park in the Gorton area of East Manchester.

It is a large green open space of historic interest which has always been at the heart of the local community.

The Friends of Debdale Park are local people who not only volunteer to help in the upkeep of the park but work to develop its potential as a resource for the whole community.

Scarecrow Workshop - Thursday 31st May 2018:

Gorton Pagan Moot runs regular school holiday activities for children in the Aviary Community Room in the park.

The most recent event was tied in with the upcoming Gorton Scarecrow Festival, and was a Scarecrow Building Workshop, where the participants were shown how to create their own scarecrows.

All materials were provided and the workshop was free!

The next holiday event to be run by Gorton Pagan Moot is:

Fairy Door Decorating  - Thursday 26th July 2018

(This event will be strictly limited to 30 people and will be first come-first served)

Gorton Carnival & Parade - Sunday 8th July 2018:

This year the Carnival Committee changed the date of the annual Gorton Carnival & Parade to a much sunnier July date, rather than the usual September day…

The results were fantastic! - Not only was the parade around the streets of Gorton the best attended ever, but the Carnival in Debdale Park enjoyed one of the hottest days for the last 42 years!

The usual attractions were dotted around the park including stalls, entertainment, music, food etc

We are all looking forward to continuing the event at the same time next year.
